Why should I prime my chalkboard?
Priming a chalkboard fills the pores, in your chalkboard, with chalk. It allows you to have an easy-to-write-on and easy-to-erase chalkboard surface. This also minimizes “ghosting” or residue left on the surface.
What type of chalk can I use?
You can use both a regular chalk or liquid chalk.
How to prime my chalkboard using a regular chalk (recommended)1. Use a piece of chalk to rub the entire surface with chalk. It’s best to lay it on its side while rubbing the chalk across the entire chalkboard surface.
2. Let it sit for a few minutes.
3. Use a dry paper towel, cloth, soft rag, chalkboard brush, or sweeper cloth to blow or wipe any excess chalk. The result is a smooth layer of chalk dust on your chalkboard surface.
How to prime my chalkboard using a liquid chalk1. Write on the surface using the liquid chalk.
2. Let it sit for 30 seconds
3. Wipe clean using a damp cloth. The ink should spread out on your chalkboard.
